These photos were taken on a gorgeous (and freezing!) Sunday at a park in Glebe at Blackwattle Bay.  It's a gorgeous spot to wander around, with amazing views of the Anzac Bridge and the Fish Markets.  Unfortunately I'm still quite shy about having my photo taken when there's lots of people around, so we didn't get too many good photos.

I've been trying to come up with new and different combinations of clothes I already own, as I'll most likely be on an indefinite shopping ban for the next 18-24 months while we save for a wedding and a potential extended honeymoon around Europe.  Luckily I do have a wardrobe full of clothes and don't really need any more, I just need to start getting creative.  This outfit was one such attempt at being a bit more creative.

American Apparel grey marle track tee;  Zara black coated jeans;  ASOS khaki anorak (similar here);  ASOS black velvet loafers;  eBay cuff;  eBay sunglasses (House of Harlow Chelsea copies);  Alexander Wang Rocco handbag;
Ulta3 Scarlet nail polish;

This was the perfect outfit for the harsh autumn day we had on Saturday, this anorak was excellent at keeping out the biting wind.  And as soon as we drove past this park covered in gorgeous autumn leaves, I knew I wanted to take photos there!

I'm starting to get into some wedding planning, it's all so overwhelming with so many things to organise, but hopefully it will be a fun process!  We still have about 18 months to plan so all we really have to do right now is lock in a venue, as the one we want books up very far in advance.  We're having a look at it on Saturday, so fingers crossed!

I've started a wedding tumblr to jot down all my ideas and inspiration, so follow me there if you want to hear all about my boring wedding minutae!

Thank you all so so so much for your lovely and kind thoughts on my last post, I love how so many people foresaw my engagement or had been wondering when it would happen!  And the boy is seriously chuffed about your compliments about my ring, he's very proud of it!

These were the photos from the day the boy proposed.  These were all pre-engagement (note the naked finger!), any photos that were taken after that were rendered mostly unusable due to the mascara tracks down my face...

Say hi to the boy's shoes in the last photo, he wanted to get in on the outfit shots too.

engaged!

This will come as no surprise to those that follow me on Twitter/Instagram/Facebook, but yesterday after 9 years, 2 months and 15 days together, my boyfriend fiance proposed!

I was caught completely off-guard, we were out wandering around the back streets of Enmore and Newtown, I wanted to get some outfit photos and the boy was practicing some skills he learnt at a photography course he did last weekend, and it was starting to rain. He came up close to me (I think he was taking a photo of my shoes?) and said 'I love you'. I immediately thought 'okay, what are you up to?'. He kept staring at me and started to fumble in his pocket. I started thinking 'oh my god, is this it? Nah, it can't be, he doesn't have a ring, I would know if he had. He's probably messing with me.' Then a dark red box came out of his pocket, he opened it to reveal a stunning black diamond engagement ring and he asked me to marry him.

I don't think I said anything for a few seconds, my brain just wouldn't formulate words. After a while I asked him if he was joking, then demanded to know since when he had a ring. He asked again since I hadn't responded, and I finally remembered to say yes.

By a lucky twist of fate, my best friend Laura had texted me 10 minutes prior asking if we could meet up for lunch, so we got to surprise them in person! We had a lovely lunch in Newtown (where I couldn't be bothered eating, I was too excited), and met up with the boy's parents in the afternoon for a celebratory drink.

The boy designed the ring himself with the help of our jeweller (a family friend), and I'm so happy with it, he did an amazing job!

I'm still a bit in shock, and I keep getting distracted by my ring at work.

Thank you to everyone for their kind words on Twitter and Instagram, you're all way too lovely <3

Sportsgirl tunic shirt;  Forever New black 'suede' leggings;  Acne Pistol ankle boots;  Alexander Wang Rocco handbag;
OPI The Thrill of Brazil nail polish;

This was the outfit I wore on Saturday to a Vogue Forum meet at high tea.  It was a lovely day, seeing familiar faces again and meeting some new ones!  When we got home Elyse and I quickly snapped some outfit photos on my street. We grab any opportunity to take photos for each other and give our boyfriends a break!

These leggings are sooooo soft and warm, I think I'm going to live in them in winter.  I've never really done the whole leggings + long shirt combo, I felt a bit self conscious and like I forgot my skirt, but I think it worked out okay.

fashion weekend

On Friday night, Elyse and I went to Fashion Weekend at Fox Studios.  Neither of us had been before so weren't quite sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised!  There was some amazing clothes at amazing prices, and while neither of us bought anything (trying to be good!), we had a great time wandering around and browsing.

MAC Lady Danger lipstick;  Ulta3 Fruit Tingle nail polish;

I don't often post photos of my work outfits, mainly because I'm way too lazy of a morning and because since starting my new job I've lost a bit of my motivation to come up with new and interesting outfits for work, I pretty much just live in skinny trousers, a silk shirt and flats.  But when this gorgeous skirt went on sale on ASOS I couldn't pass it up.  It definitely makes a boring work outfit more interesting!

Sportsgirl tunic-style shirt;  Zara black leather pencil skirt (similar here);  Acne Pistol ankle boots;
MAC Lady Danger lipstick;

This is the outfit I wore to Laura's birthday dinner and drinks on Saturday night, and then I wore the same shirt tucked into black pants yesterday for work.  I love a versatile shirt!

I've been wearing MAC Lady Danger almost non-stop since I got it for my birthday, it's the perfect super-bright red.  My lipstick collection is getting slightly out of control (and will only be getting worse as I've given a wishlist to my friend who's in the US at the moment!), so I bought a lipstick stand from eBay.  I'll have to share some pics soon, I love seeing them all lined up on my dressing table.

Not much else has been happening in my world.  I was home sick from work today as I woke up feeling like I'd swallowed razorblades overnight, plus I had an appointment with my orthopedic surgeon this afternoon.  Not the most fun of days!  Hopefully whatever cold thing I have at the moment sorts itself out by the weekend.

PS.  I was interviewed on Smashion a few weeks ago, and the interview was put up yesterday!  Check it out here.

Yep, more printed pants!  I know they're a bit controversial at the moment, but I can't get enough of them.  I also have a pair of snake-print pants to show you soon too...

I was lusting after the Sass & Bide leopard print jeans for a while, but the $270 price tag turned me off, I wasn't willing to pay that much for a trend-based item.  So when Melinda from Mumma In Heels posted on Twitter about Cotton On selling a pair of leopard print jeans on sale for $10, I snapped them up straight away.

I'm so glad it's Friday, this week just seemed to drag on for ever!  I have an exciting weekend coming up, it's miss Laura's birthday on Monday so we have a weekend full of festivities to celebrate.

diy studded converse

After seeing this picture while browsing Tumblr the other week, I became determined to create my own studded Converse.  I went straight to eBay and bought 100 square studs for about $5 including postage.  They arrived super quick and I immediately sat down with my Cons to stud them.

I'm definitely not one for DIY but I'm quite happy with how these turned out.

I love these sneakers, I've had them for a few years now and they went all over the US with me.  They're so comfortable (I can't walk for very long in any shoes without my feet killing - I can last much longer in these than anything else!) and are that perfect amount of worn.  Now they have a bit more character!

The studding was really easy to do, the studs all have 4 prongs on the back that push easily through the canvas fabric.  I used a butter knife to push down the prongs on the inside of the shoe.  I'll have to wear socks with these (folded down really low since they're quite low cut), because the prongs on the inside will scratch the skin.

I've still got heaps of studs left, and I've been searching through my wardrobe to find something else to stud (a white tee perhaps?).  It's so addictive!
